We are based in the Harrogate area and have a programme that includes walks most Sundays, an evening walk each Tuesday during the summer months, walking weekends away throughout the year and social events for members. We have approximately 100 members who mostly live in the Harrogate District (including Harrogate, Knaresborough, Ripon, Pateley Bridge, Wetherby) and are affiliated to both the YHA and the Ramblers Association. We welcome new members and try to cater for all walking preferences in twice yearly programme.Whether you live in the Harrogate area or are just here temporarily, you are welcome to join us to explore the areas including Yorkshire Dales, North Yorkshire Moors, Pennines, Peak District and the Lake District.Sunday walks (all year round)These are all-day walks, so you'll need to bring a packed lunch. You'll also need suitable clothing, walking boots and waterproofs. We usually meet at 9.15 am outside the Harrogate Library, but sometimes we have a different start time, so please consult the programme. Tuesday evening walks (summer only)These are shorter evening walks of about 3-4 miles. Walking boots are recommended, and waterproofs are usually a necessity in our climate! We meet at 7.15 pm outside the Harrogate Library. Winter social eventsDuring the darker winter evenings we meet informally in a pub roughly every other Tuesday. The venue is the "Tap and Spile" on Tower Street - please check the programme for the exact dates. |
